Plastic Bags

rubbish.jpgThat plastic bag will last longer than you!

Plastic bags are a real menace to the environment. They take hundreds of years to degrade and when thrown away they can cause a hazard to wildlife. They also look unsightly when they are blown around the countryside and seaside getting caught up in hedges and fences.

Sherborne In Bloom is against plastic bags!

When you go shopping, please take your own bags. If the assistant offers you a plastic bag, ask if there is a paper one available. If not, ask why not.

If you have plastic bags in your home, by all means re-use them until they fall apart but then take them to the recycling bins outside the supermarkets from where they will be disposed off safely.

Plastic bags? Just say no!

Sherborne Chamber of Trade also looking into this. A member of the Sherborne Area Partnership steering group approached me in Cheap St. as they do! about string bags which can be washed & have a logo on it. Am contacting Brian King (Castle Gardens) who is researching bags for COT. Sally W.
