Community Involvement
Sherborne In Bloom isn’t just for people with gardens! As gardeners themselves very well know, gardening can be a therapeutic and life-enhancing activity and, as such, can help people become more involved in our community.
Many groups within the town have taken part in community gardening, more especially in the ‘Adopt-a-Plot’ scheme.
For example, Sherborne Outreach, who provide support for people with learning difficulties, adopted the planters in Culverhayes car park and produced a magnificent show of flowers. Members of the group enjoyed the activity and were rightly very proud of their work.
In other areas, school children planted bulbs and tress, trimmed hedges and lawns, weeded verges, and even painted fences. It has been evident from the feedback from both teachers and pupils that this has proved to be a popular, if alternative, educational activity!
If you are in a community group, young or old, who would like to be involved in Sherborne In Bloom, please contact us and we will be delighted to find you something to do.
