About Sherborne In Bloom
‘Sherborne In Bloom’ is Sherborne’s entry to the regional ‘South West In Bloom’ competition, part of the annual ‘Britain In Bloom’ contest.
Cities, towns and villages throughout the country enter this competition and vie with each other to display the splendour of their gardens.
But the competition is actually much wider than gardens: the whole environment of the town is involved and this includes not just residential gardens but also public spaces, allotments, business and retail premises, churchyards, schools, hospitals, etc.
Sherborne has entered this competition for the past few years and has done well, culminating in 2009 with a Gold Award and the Preece Cup for Best Small Town.
And an important part of Sherborne In Bloom is the annual ‘Growing for Gold‘ competition, where prizes are awarded by our sponsors for gardens and blooms in the town. This competition has become a vital contributor to our success in the national contest.
Sherborne is a pleasant, friendly town with many excellent gardens and delightful visitor attractions. Sherborne In Bloom aims to enhance the quality of the town for the benefit both of the residents and for the many visitors who come to share our environment.
